The ‘CookBook Edible Library’ Project is now launched

December 7, 2020 by erjjio_support Leave a Comment

We are blessed and excited to announce the start of the CookBook Edible Library project in partnership with VIY & Haringey Council, made possible through funding from the Mayor of London’s Grow Back Greener Fund.

This new green community oasis will be created by a dedicated network of #volunteers and #community groups who will plant at least 30 new trees and convert over 200m2 underutilised space into a lush sanctuary for growth.

The project aims to become an inclusive space of education and engagement with people and nature for all in the community.

It will also provide young people opportunities to learn trade skills whilst participating in a wide range of outdoor activities, including bench building, gardening and nurturing vegetables and trees, building bug hotels and bird houses, and even learning about worm-composting.

Follow along to witness an amazing green transformation at St Ann’s!

We were awarded the WRAP Emergency Food Surplus Grant

November 2, 2020 by erjjio_support Leave a Comment

It’s been over 6 months since we’ve started repurposing surplus fresh produce to put food on people’s plates. 🍛

During this time, our incrEdible Volunteers have sorted through 245 tonnes of fugly fruit and veg – enough to make up over 600,000 free meals through our partners who cook and directly serve their community.

Our work connects critical dots to turn a massive problem into a solution for another. To perform miracles each day, we must ensure our work remains efficiently coordinated and our workplaces safe. The crucial £15,000 funding that came through via the COVID-19 Emergency Surplus Food Grant (provided by DEFRA and managed by WRAP) helps us achieve this mammoth task for a period.

The first E-bike in the Edible Fleet just rolled in!

October 26, 2020 by erjjio_support Leave a Comment

The new cargo bike and trailer allow our staff and volunteers to travel, harvest and distribute goods in a more dynamic way locally, all the while reducing air pollution and minimising our carbon footprint.

The amazing eco-friendly expansion of our transport capacity was made possible by @TransportForLondon ’s Healthy Streets Officer Programme for @Sustrans London.
